Zhang Dali 张大力 was born in January, in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province,
|
|
|
in Northeast China.
|

|
|
1987
|
He graduated from the National Academy of Arts & Design, Beijing.
|
| |
|
|
1989
|
He moved to Italy, in Bologna where he discovered the art of graffiti.
|
| |
|
|
1995
|
When he came back, he travelled around Beijing and spray-painted his
|
| |
giant profile on all the buildings in ruins slated for demolition. Some are
|
| |
marked AK-47 in reference to he Russsian machine gun, symbol of violence.
|
| |
|
|
2005
|
Used as pattern in his series of portraits of workers seeking for a job,
|
| |
AK- 47 was used to show their vulnerability.
|
| |
|
|
2003/2005
|
In Chinese Offspring, he symbolized, in resin, 100 migrant workers, hung
|
| |
upside down to indicate their inability to change their fate.
|
| |
|
|
2005/2010
|
In The second Story, the artist highlighted the rigging in photography,
|
| |
by propaganda, in China, confronting the official pictures retouched
|
| |
and the original of 1950-1970.
|
| |
