1948

Qiu Deshu  仇德树  was born in Shanghai, Jiangsu Province  China.

As he likes to draw, his parents sent him to a special class to learn the techniques

of painting and then they gave him lessons with a painter of traditional Chinese painting.

1978

At the end of high school, he worked in a factory and then at the Cultural Palace

of Luwan where he painted posters, advertisements andexhibitions, while painting

for himself.

He began exhibiting his paintings.

1979

He founded the Caocao hua she group, a group of twelve artists wanting to promote

the originality and artistic independence.

1980

Their first exhibition where he showed nine of his paintings was appreciated

by the public but quickly closed by the authorities..

1982

Depressed, Qiu experimented and discovered the cracks that become cracking,

the basic principle of his artistic language. .

1985

He spent a year at the artist residence of Tufts University  United States.

He created a huge mural paint in the new building of the Campus Center.

Four individual exhibitions are held in the United States.

1986

He returned to China and get established as a professional artist.

1988

He gave a conference at the John Fairbank Kong. Harvard University Unisted

States.

1996

As curator of the exhibition Shanghai Water Ink, he was invited to give a conference

at the Department of Art at the University of Arizona  United States.

2003

He was the artistic adviser of Shanghai Art Village and Shanghai Bao Zhen Art Park.

2004

An exhibition of his work room was open at the art center Hai Shan.

He won the Literatue Art Award.

2006

He was the guest of honor at the International exhibition of contemporary Chinese

Ink painting, organized by the Crystal Foundation.
