Ho Kan 霍刚 pinyin Huo Gang

1932

Ho Kan 霍刚 was born on June 20th in Nanjing, Jiangsu province in China.

1938

His family moved to Chungching. He spent his free time drawing..

1942

When his father died, he moved to live with his grand-father, Ho Rei, ( Tueianchushi )

a great calligrapher, who developed his taste for the Arts.

1950

He joined the Taipei Normal School ( Arts Department )

1951

In the Li Zhong-Shan'studio, he studied Western modern Art.

1953

He taught Art in Chingmei Elementary School where Hsiao Chin was appointed

the next year.

1955

He founded the first movement in Chinese art, rather abstract art :

Ton -Fan group, in pinyin dongfang huahui 东方画会 Orient Movement.

With Chen Tao Ming , Hsia Yan, Hsiao Ming-Hsien, Hsiao Chin, Li Yuan-Chia,

Ouyang Wen-Yuan, Wu Hao, they are the eight outlaws, as they came to be known

because of their rebellion against the artistic trends of the time..

1957

First exhibition of Ton-Fan group in Taipei followed by many others

in Taipei but also in Italiy, Spain, Germany, U.S.A.

Ho Kan attended there regularly.

1964

He moved to Europe : Paris and Milan where he settled definitively..
