1970

Ya-Fei Chuang  莊雅斐 was born on September 20 in Tainan  Taiwan.

   
 

  -  Child prodigy

1979

At the age of nine, she gave her first piano recital.

1980

At the age of ten, she won the Taiwanese television music competition Genius vs. Genius.

1981

At the age of eleven, she won First Prize in the National Music Competition of Taiwan,

   
 

  -  Studies

 

Thanks to scholarships, she studied in Taiwan, then in Germany, at the Superior School

 

of Music in Freiburg, and in the United States, at the New England Conservatory in Boston.

Parke-Davis Prize Germany

   

2007-2020

She was an associate professor at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

 

She gave masterclasses in the United States, Europe, and Asia,  as well as an annual

 

two-week masterclass  at the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum,

 

in Salzburg.

2023

She is a professor of piano at the Mozarteum University.

Pianist with a wide repertoire: selection

   
    -  She played as a soloist.
 

The recording of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 was acclaimed by the press.

   
 

 -  She also played in a duo with cellist Alban Gerhardt and American violist Kim

 

Kashkashian and pianist Robet Levin, her husband, in a Chamber Music recital.

2009

Her recording of Hindemith's chamber music works with Spectrum Berlin was awarded

 

the Special Prize, by the I.R.R. (International Record Review.)

   
 

  -  With her husband, she played the pianoforte, alternating the roles of 1st and 2nd

  pianist.
