Peng Cao   曹鹏  conductor was born on December 22, in Jiangyin,  

 

Jiangsu Province  China.

   
 

-  Education

1946

After the Nanjing College. he joined Shandong University  of the Arts

 

to study conducting.

 

Graduated, he conducted the music for several films, including the film

 

adaptation of Lao She's : Longxu Gulley.

   

1955

Thanks to a scholarship, he went to study in Russia at the Gnessin Academy

 

of Music in Moscow.

 

He then conducted concerts with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra -

 

the Conservatory of Music Opera Orchestra - as well as the Soviet Union

 

Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, during the violin concert : The Butterfly lovers.

 

 

 

 

   

 

-  Career

     -  Conductor

1961-1991

Back in China, he was appointed permanent conductor of theShanghai

 

Symphony Orchestra.

1975

He went on tour in Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong Kong.

   

1980

   -  Teacher
  He taught a conducting course at Shanghai Conservatory.
 

He was also a Professor at several universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

   

1992

He conducted the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, 上海民族乐团 during concerts,

 

in southern China.

 

He was often invited to conduct Chinese orchestras in Hong Kong, Singapore,

 

and the Taipei Chinese Classical Orchestra.

   
 

  - He was Music Director of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and the Shanghai

 

Chamber Orchestra.

1995

The Cao Feng Music Center was created to promote classical music.

2005

Peng Cao founded the Shanghai Amateur Symphony Orchestra, a non-profit organization.

 

Under the direction of his daughter Cao Xiaoxia, he launched a project to create

 

orchestra for people with autism.
