Muhai Tang  汤沐海 was born on Juiy 10, in Shanghai  China.

  His father is the celebrated Chinese Filmmaker Tang Xiaodan  - His older brother
  the writer and painter Tang Muli.
   
  Studies
 

He first learned music at home. He then entered the Shanghai Conservatory

 

of Music, where he studied composition and then conducting.

 

Having received two degrees, he continued his studies in Germany, at the University

 

of Music and Theatre in Munich.

1983 -1984

He was invited by Herbert van Karajan to conduct the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

1988

He made his American debut with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

1988 - 2001
