Li Meishu 李梅树 ( 1902-1983 ) was born on March 13 in Sanxia Taiwan.

|
|
Attracted to painting from an early age, he studied with the Japanese
|
|
painter Ishikawa Kin'jchiro. ( 1845 - 1871 ).
|
|
|
1929
|
He continued his studies in Japan. |
|
He joined the Tokyo Fine Arts School. ( Western Painting Department )
|
|
|
1934
|
Graduated, he came back to Taiwan. |
|
|
|
Li Meishu 李梅树 never stopped promoting the Western painting :
|
|
- Throught his works : realistic paintings depicting landscapes
|
|
or characters around him and still lifes.
|

- by taking part to te creation of Tayang Art Society, with the artists : |

Liao Jichun (1902-1976) - Yan Shuilong ( 1903-1997) - Ta Teng Pho (1895-1947) |
1945

- by leading the restoration of the Qingshui Zushi Temple in Shanxia.

- by teaching at the Taiwan Universities. ( Art Department ) |

- by presiding the Fine Art Association of Republic of China.

|
On February 6, he passed away in Taipei Taiwan, at th age of 81.
|
|
|
1990
|
A Memorial Museum was dedicated to him in Sanhsia Taiwan.
