1958

Jia Peng Fang  贾鹏芳, erhu player and composer, was born on August 19, in Jiamusi,

 

Heilongjiang Province, Northeast of China.

1966

He began playing the erhu at the age of eight.

1974

Encouraged by his older brother, he moved to Beijing to learn alongside professionals.

 

During the Cultural Revolution, he was forced to return to Jamusi to work in the fields.

1978

He prepared for the entrance exam to the Conservatory of Music.

 

He became the erhu player of the Central Folk Orchestra.

1985

He was Deputy Director of the Orchestra Department.

   
  Japan
 

He left to study in Japan.

 

His encounter with musician Katsuhisa Hattori opened a new musical world to him,

 

by participating in his albums.

1988

He entered the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, pursuing

 

the Master's program.

 

He graduated.

Lovers by Director Zhang Yimou.

He became known in the United States, performing with the Carnegie Hall

 

Orchestra in New York.

   

2001

  - He collaborated with musicians of all genres (pop, jazz, classical music).

 

He played alongside pianist Naoyuki Onda, live from the studio of the American

 

National television program Echoes, a recording included on the album Faraway.

   
 

  -  A teacher, eager to promote the erhu, he wrote educational books.

2005-2006

Mastering the Ehru (sheet music with CD) in 12 volumes.
