Jia Peng Fang 贾鹏芳, erhu player and composer, was born on August 19, in Jiamusi,

Heilongjiang Province, Northeast of China.

He began playing the erhu at the age of eight.

Encouraged by his older brother, he moved to Beijing to learn alongside professionals.

During the Cultural Revolution, he was forced to return to Jamusi to work in the fields.

He prepared for the entrance exam to the Conservatory of Music.

He became the erhu player of the Central Folk Orchestra.
