Cui Jian 崔健 was born on August 2, in Beijing China.
|
|
|
He learned to play the trumpet and then joined the Beijing Philharmonic Orchestra.
|

|

In the 80's, he discovered rock music and started to play guitar.
|
| |
With six other musicians, he formed the band Qi He Ban. ( Seven Player Band )
|
|
|
They performed in bars with their own compositions.
|
|
|
|

1986
|
He became known with his song : Nothing to My Name
|
|
|
He left the band to devote himself entirely to music. ( mixture at the same time
|
| |
of pop, reggae, funk, hard rock and punk and traditional music.)
|
| |
|
|
|
He became very popular during the Tiananmen events with his song, taken
|
| |
as a protest slogan and his presence with the leaders.
|
|
|
|

1990
|
After a first tour through China with The New Long March, he was banned from
|
|
|
performing in the capital. .
|
|
|
So he started a tour in the United States, Europa, in the East and Southeast Asia
|
| |
that made him world famous.
|
| |
|
|
1991
|
He won the MTV International Viewer's Choice Award with Wild in the Snow.
|
| |
|
|
2000
|
He received the Dutch Prince Claus Award, for his development of an authentic
|
|
|
Chinese rock music.
|

|
|
2002
|
He co-organized a rock Festival in the Yunnan mountains: The Lijiang Snow
|
|
|
Mountain Music Festival China. |

|
| |
He began a series of tours in ten cities in Germany , performed with Udo Lindenberg,

| |
then in China with the British group Deep Purple, and finished in 30 cities of the United
|
| |
States.

2003

He was supposed to perform with the Rolling Stones but the event was cancelled due
|
| |
to the SRAS epidemic.

| |

2005
|
He was able to perform again in Beijing.
|

|

2006

He played and sang Wild Horses, alongside the Rolling Stones.
