Chen Cheng-Po 陈澄波 ( 1895 - 1947 ) was born in Chiayi Taiwan.
|

|
| |
He studied at the TaipeiJapanese School ( Teaching Department ) |
|
1917
|
Graduated, he taught in Chiayi Public school. |
| |
|
|
1924
|
He continued his studies in Japan, at the School of Fine Arts of Tokyo.
|
| |
|
|
1929
|
After graduating, he returned to China where he was appointed Professor
|
| |
at the Xinhua University University of Shanghai.
|
| |

| |
- As an artist, he was appointed as one of the twelve representatives of the Republic
|
| |
of China, for The World Expo in Chicago.
|
| |
His works are regularly selected for the Imperial Art Exhibition of Japan and the Taiwan

Fine Arts exhibitions.
|
| |
|
|
|
- Very involved in Art, he founded :
|
|
|
The Seven Stars Society (1924 ), then the Western Painting Society of Chinyang
|
| |
Taipei Taiwan (1927) and participated in the foundation of the Red Island Painting Society
|
| |
Tainan Taiwan. (1927 )
|
| |
In order to develop Taiwanese Art, he created the Taiyang Art Association, which holds
|
| |
an annual touring exhibition. (1934 )
|

1947
|
He died on March 25, in Taiwan, during the Shanghai offensive..
|
| |
|
| |
Long eclipsed, his works reappeared in the 80's, and are the subject of numerous
|
| |
of commemorative exhibitions.
