Sun Zongwei ( 1912-1979 ) was born on July, in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China.

He entered The National Central University ( Art department ). |

Graduated, he began teaching. |

1940

He joined Zhang Daqian to copy and research on Mogao grottoes, Yulin grottoes
|
|
and Western thousand Buddhas cave, in Dunhuang.
|
|
He made many sketches and oil paintings of Tibetans and Mongols.
|
|
|
1942
|
He taught at the Chinese Arts Academy Chongqing.
|
|
|
1946
|
He joined Xu Beihong who employed him as a teacher in the National Art Academy. |
|
|
1956
|
He was appointed as a Professor at the Central Drama Academy.
|
|
|
1979
|
He died in May, at the age of 67 years. |
