Liu Kuo-Sung 劉國松 was born on April 26 in Bangbu, in Anhui Province China.
|
|
|
1948
|
Fatherless, he was admitted to the the Nanjing National Revolutionary Army Orphan
|
|
School, and the following year, to the affiliated high school of the Taiwan Provincial
|
|
Teachers' College.
|
|
|
1951
|
He entered the National Normal University of Taiwan ( Fine Arts department )
|
|
|
1956
|
With several students, he founded Fifth Moon Group in response to challenge
|
|
of Contemporary Western Art : abstract expressioninsm, and they organized exhibitions.
|
|
|
1959
|
He participated in the Sao Paulo Biennial in Brazil and in the Youth Biennial in Paris,
|
|
in France.
|
|
|
1961
|
He abandoned oil and canvas for ink and paper and took the lead in the movement
|
|
of Modern Chinese Painting.
|
|
|
1966
|
He obtained the Rockefeller Fellowship, left for a year in the United States, then
|
|
traveled around the world.
|
|
|
1968
|
He founded the Chinese Painting Study Society in Taiwan.
|
|
|
1969
|
Inspired by the 8th Apollo spacecraft, he painted his series What is Earth ?
|
|
His Space Paintings receive the Exhibition Prize: Mainstream 69.
|
|
|
1970
|
He taught at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, for a semester.
|
|

1971 / 1992
|
He moved to Hong Kong and taught at the Chinese University ( Fine Arts Department )
|

He began to influence the development of modern Chinese ink painting, in Hong Kong.. |

1992
|
Invited as professor at Donghai University, he joined Taiwan. |

|
1996 / 1999
|
He was named at the head of the Fine Arts Research Institute, at the Tainan, National |
|
University, Taiwan. |
|
|
|
His works are in the collections of many countries:

Australia, China, Germany, Great Britain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Taiwan.United States.
