John Way 魏樂唐 ( 1921-2012 ), was born in Shanghai China.
|

|
His father was a collector of Chinese painting and calligraphy.
|
|
|
|
|

He studied calligraphy under Li Zhongqian ( 1881-1956 ).
|

|
|
1937
|
He hold his first exhibition at the Sun Gallery, Shanghai. |
| |
|
|
1949
|
He moved to Hong Kong and studied Western Art at the Hong Kong Art Club. |

|
|
1956
|
He emigrated with his family to the United States and settled in Boston,

| |
Massachusetts.

| |
|
|
|
He studied Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

|
|
|

He turned to abstraction. |

He participated to the collective exhibition Painting without a Brush, at the Institute
