Ho Chao-Chu 何肇衢 was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
|
|
Ho-Hsin-Yen, his father, a Buddhist painter, gave him a taste for drawing
|
|
and painting from a very young age.
|
|
|
1949
|
Graduated from Chutung National High School, he entered the Taipei Normal
|
|
School for three years of studies. ( Fine Arts department )
|
|
After graduating, he started teaching.
|
|
|
1953 / 1961
|
He painted still lifes.
|
|
|
1965
|
He took part in the first National Art Exhibition and in all the following ones.
|
|
|
1966
|
First solo exhibition at the Armed Forces Cultural Center, Taipei.
|
|
|
1970
|
He turned to abstraction and figuration and experimented with the knife,
|
|
the application of many colors.
|
|
|
1979
|
He gave up teaching to devote himself to creation and traveling, during which
|
|
he made many sketches and visited art galleries.
|
|
|
|
He participated in travelling exhibitions of Contemporary Chinese Painting
|
|
in Europe, ( 1972 ) and Latin America. ( 1988 )
|
|
|
1984
|
He produced for the Tainan Cultural Centre, an oil on canvas: Sunset on Anping
|
|
