Zhang Shanzi 张善孖( 1882-1940 ) was born in a family of artists, in Neijiang,

in Sichuan Province, China.

He is the elder brother of Zhang Daqian (1899-1983 ).

He went to study in Japan.
|
|
|
|
He joined the underground resistance movement Tongmenghui created in 1905.
|
|

His brother joined him to study textile dyeing at the Kokei School in Kyoto.
|
|
|
|
On his return to China, he continued his activities in the revolutionary movements.
|
|
He collected funds for the Chinese army by selling his works.
|
|
|
|
He is known for his landscapes, flowers and wild animals, in particular: the lion.
|
|
|
1940
|
He passed away in Chongqing, shortly after his return from fundraising in the United States.
