Yun Gee 朱沅芷 ( 1906-1963 ), was born on February 22, in Guangzhou, Guangdong
|
|
|
Province , in the south of China.
|

|
|
1921
|
He left to join his father, a merchant, in San Francisco, United States.
|
|
|
|
|
1925
|
He entered studying painting and drawing at the California Academy of Art.
|
| |
|
|
1926
|
First exhibition at the Modern Gallery in San Francisco.
|
| |
He founded the Club of Revolutionary Chinese Artists, a place for teaching advanced
|
| |
painting techniques and theory .
|
| |
|
|
1932
|
The New York Museum of Modern Art exhibited : Wheels - Industrial New York
|
| |
|
|
1936 / 1938
|
He went to France, and was the first Chinese to take part to the Salon d'Autome
|
|
|
and to the Salon des Indépendants.
|
| |
He held several solo exhibitions in Paris.
|
| |
|
|
1939
|
During the Second World War, he returned to New York.

He was faced with discrimination against Asians.
|
| |

1945
|
He suffered more and more from depression.
|
|

1963
|
He died of cancer on June 5 in New York at the age of 57.

The Robert Scholkopf Gallery in New York organized a retrospective of his works.
