Shan Shan Sheng was born in Shanghai.

She grew up in Shanghai and learned traditional painting and calligraphy.

She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Shanghai College of Drama.

She moved to the United States to study Western painting.

Abstract Expressionism was for her a true revelation.

She first studied at Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, and then at the University

of Massachusetts in Amherst, where she earned a Master's degree in Fine Arts, before
|
|
|
moving to Boston as an artist-in-residence for two years, at Harvard University.
|

|
|
|
Internationally renowned visual artist, she practices painting, sculpture, and large-scale
|
| |
glass installations in the United States, China and Taiwan.
|
