Shan Shan Sheng  盛姗姗 was born in Shanghai  China.

She grew up in Shanghai and learned traditional painting and calligraphy..

1981

She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Shanghai College of Drama..

1982

She moved to the United States to study Western painting.

Abstract Expressionism was for her a true revelation.

She first studied at Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, and then at the University

of Massachusetts in Amherst, where she earned a Master's degree in Fine Arts, before

moving to Boston as an artist-in-residence for two years, at Harvard University.

Internationally renowned visual artist, she practices painting, sculpture, and large-scale

glass installations in the United States, China and Taiwan..

She lives and works in San Francisco  United States, and in Shanghai  China.
