Ming Fay 费明杰 pinyin Fei Mingjie

1943

Ming Fay 费明杰 was born into a family of artists in Shanghai China.

1952

The family moved to Hong Kong where he grew up.

1961

After high school, thanks to a scholarship, he studied Design, in the United States,

at Colombus of Art & Design, in Ohio.

1965

He worked for a year in a Design studio.

1966

He joined the Kansas City Art Institute to study sculpture.

1967

He obtained a Bachelor in Art.

He continued his studies at the University of California Santa Babara.

1970

He graduated with a Masters degree in Fine Arts.

He began his first sculptures with papier-mâché and made wire armatures,

used natural forms and transformed them into hybrids, with common materials.

His installations are related to nature, the garden, abundance.

1990

He lives and works as a professor of sculpture at William Paterson College,

New Jersey, United States

2008

He was awarded the Sculpture Prize from the National Academy of Art in New York.

He carried out many public commissions.
