Fang Zengxian 方增先 was born in a poor family of peasants, in Lanxixia,

Zhejiang Province China.

He went to live with his grandmother. |

He joined the Hangzhou State Academy of Arts. |

He studied under Ren Bonian, Wang Geyi and Wu Changshuo.

After graduating of the East China Branch of The Central Academy

of Fine Arts, he continued his studies.

He obtained a Master's degree and became a professor at the Zhejiang

Academy of Fine Arts.

He created his own style and published : How To Draw Wash Portraits.

He was acclaimed at the National exhibition of Art. |

He married the sculptor, Lu Qihui.

They travelled four times through Tibet to study the customs.
