1939

Ding Shaoguang  丁绍光 was born on October 7 in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, China.

   
 

He studied decorative arts under the supervision of  Pang Xunqin 庞薰琴

1962

Graduated from the Academy of Arts and Crafts, he taught at the Yunnan Art School

 

in Kunming.

   

1979

He created a mural for the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

 

 

1980

He left for the United States and taught at the University of California in Los Angeles.

 

 

1986/1996

Many individual exhibitions around the world.

   

1992

White Night, won the highest auction price for Chinese painters:

 

HK $ 2 millions, at Christies

   

1993 / 1995

Three times, the Association of Chinese Artists of the United States, choose him as the

 

most representative painter of the United States.

   

1996

The National Art Museum of China organized the National Ding Shaoguang Prize

 

exhibition.

   

1998

He created a mural for the Shanghai Grand Theater.

   

2011

For his painting of a rainforest, Tree of Soul, located in Shanghai Culture Square,

 

he used 300,000 pieces of glued glass.

   
 

He lives in the United States.
