He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and continued his studies at the Nanjing Institute

of Arts and Crafts..

He made a trip to Tibet.

He graduated with a Master in Oil Painting and began teaching.

Ding Fang, Yang Zhilin, Shen Qin, Cao Xiaodong, Chai Xiaogang, Xu Lei, Xu Yihui, Guan Ce,

et Yang Yingsheng, against the flow of exposure of young artists from Jiangsu, decided

to form a group of surrealist painters called Red-Travel.
