Ding Cong 丁聪 pseudonym Xiao Ding ( Little Ding ) ( 1916-2009 ) was born in

Shanghai China.

His father, Ding Song, an avant-garde caricaturist, refused to teach him drawing.

He started drawing caricatures.

|

He participated in the major caricature exhibition of Chongqing, with :

Zhang Guangyu, Ye Qianyu, liao Bingxiong, Shen Tonheng, Te Wei, Yu Suoya and Zhang Wenyan.

1942
|
During the war, he went to Chengdu and tried sketching outside, in Sichuan.

|
|
1944
|
On his return, he created Faces and current phenomena in images that made him famous.
|
|
|
|
He was also known for his illustrations of the works of Lu Xun ( 1881-1936 ) and

|
Lao She (1899-1966 ) and his contribution in various newspapers and magazines.

He was assistant editor of the China Pictorial of Beijing.

|

He stopped drawing until 1979.

He died on May 26 in Beijing at the age of 93.
