Choi Yan Chi 蔡仞姿 was born in Hong Kong.
|
|
|
|
After graduating from Northcote College of Education ( 1969 ) and Grantham
|
|
College of Education ( 1970 ), she continued her studies at The School of
|
|
the Art Institute Chicago.
|
|
|
1976

She obtained her Bachelor ( B.F.A. ) |
|
|
1977
|
She graduated with a Master's degree ( M.F.A. )
|
|
|
1979
|
She began to teach at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
|
|
|
1989
|
She was artist in residency in New York, during one year.
|
|
|
1993
|
She participated in the First Asia Pacific Triennial, Queensland Art Gallery.
|
|
|
1993 / 1997
|
She settled in Toronto, Canada.
|
|
|
1998
|
She returned to Hong Kong and created 1 A Space, the first contemporary
|
|
non-profit Art space.
|
|
In the same year, she was named Artist of the Year by Arts Development
|
|
Council of Hong Kong.
|
|
|
2002

She helped to establish the Academy of Visual Arts of the Baptist University
|
|
of Hong Kong, where she is Assistant Professor since (2005)

|
|
|
Her works are in the Collections of Museum of Art and Heritage Museum |

in Hong Kong. |

|
2015

Commissioned by M+, Hong Kong in associated with MoMA New York,

she presented a short interactive performance to celebrate Yoko Ono
