Chiu Ya-Tsai ( 1949-2013 ) was born in Yi-Lan on the East coast of Taiwan.

1963
|
He left school and did his compulsory military service, during which he read a lot.
|
|
|
|
Self-taught :
|
|
- He discovered Chinese History, Western Literature and was interested in the complexity
|
|
of human nature through the writings of Shakespeare and Dostoïevsky.
|
|
- He wrote several novels and won the Prize for Literature, at The Elegance Gallery, Taipei,
|
|
with Women of Eastern District.
|
|
- He turned to painting and more particularly to portraits partly in profile, poets, writers,
|
|
and aesthetes.
|
|
|
1981
|
He frequented Wistaria Tea House the favorite meeting place in Taipei for celibrities, literati,
|
|
and artists.
|
|
|
2005
|
He created a series of works whose themes were still life and flowers. |
|
|
2013
|
He passed away, on April, at the age of 64. |
|
The same year, his work Woman in the Moonlight reached 3,658,000 $ at Kingsley Art
|
|
Auction Taipei.
