Chen Chi Kwan  陈其宽  pinyin Chen Qikuan

1921

Chen Chi Kwan was born in Beijing, in China.

   

1944

Graduated in architecture,  from the National Central University, Chongqing,

 

he moved to the United States, to continue his studies.

   

1949

He graduated with a Master degree in architecture from the University of Illinois.
   

1952

First  exhibition in Museum of Art : M.I.T. Cambridge.
   

1954

The architect I.M. Pei called him to help him design the campus of Tunghai University

 

and the memorial Luce Chapel, to the unique shape..

   

1958

He travelled in Europe.
   

1960

Back in Taiwan, he appointed the dean of Architecture department, Tunghai University.

   

1980

He was appointed the dean of engineering department, Tunghai University.

   

1995

He obtained the 1st Taiwan Outstanding Architect Award.

   
 

Painter, he gave a totally new appearance to the Chinese traditional painting.

 

Numerous exhibitions in United States, Europe and East Asia.

   

2004

He moved to the United States.
   

2007

He passed away on the 5th of June at the age of 87 in San Francisco.

   
 

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of its birth, the National Museum of the Palace

 

of Taiwan organized a major exhibition in Taiwan :
