1986

Yan Xing  鄢醒 was born in Chongqing, in southwest China.

2005

He entered the Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts.

2009

He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Arts from the Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts.

He moved to Beijing and founded Yan Xing Studio.

Sculpture, Video, Photography, Installation and Performance compose his work.

2011

He made himself known with Daddy project, a monologue tracing his childhood,

with an absent father.

2012

He won the Chinese Contemporary Art Award for Best Young Artist.

He was a finalist in the Victor Pinchuk Foundation's Future Generation Art Prize

and in the Focus on Talents project at the Today Art Museum.

The same year, he participated in the 7 th Shenzhen Sculpture Biennial, with The History

of Reception, an installation and performance during which, sitting behind a desk,

he read a text relating his own version of History of Art.

2015

Married to Lothar von Falkenhausen, Professor of Chinese Archaeology and History of Art

at the University of California, he lives and works in Beijing China and Los Angeles,

United States.
