1906

Qian Juntao 錢君匋 was born on February 11 in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province, China..

   
 

Calligrapher, seal engraver, painter, he became interested in Art at a very young age.

   

1926

After studying at the Hangzhou Academy, he entered as an artistic editor for Kaiming

  Company, in Shanghai. 
 

He made the drawings for the first cover designs of  Lu Xun  鲁迅, Mao Dun 茅盾 ,

 

Mao Dun 茅盾 and Guo Moruo 郭沫若.

   
 

His style is recognizable thanks to the vivids brush movements, in calligraphy,  

 

the long inscriptions in his seals, and the theme of flowers in his paintings.

   
 

His works are presented in national and international exhibitions as well as in Art

 

magazines.

   

1985

As a great collector, he donated 4000 pieces to the city of Tongxiang, which built :

 

Juntao Art House,  to house them.

   

1996

Two years before his death, he donated 1000 pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties

 

as well as his own works to the city of Haining which founded the Qian Juntao Art Museum.
