Laurens Tan  谭思考 was born in August 10,  in The Hague, The Netherlands,

of Chinese parents.

1962

1972/1978

He studied Music theory and Arrangement, at the Sydney Conservatorium,

and then Fine Arts, at the University of South Australia.

1987

He entered the Normal University of Hunan, Changsha China.

1991

He graduated with a Master's degree in Creative Arts from the University.

2006

He obtained his D.C.A ( Doctorate in Creative Arts - Communication and Medias )

from Sydney University of Technology.

-  He then taught at universities in the United States, Australia and China.

- He was artist-in-residency in different countries :

Australia : Edith Cowan University  Perth ( 1992 ) ( 1996 ), Queenslands Art

University Museum ( 1993 )

Canada : Banff Centre ( 1998 )

China : Australia China Council Beijing ( 2006 ) ( 2007 ), Beijing Changnanyuan

Ceramics Company ( 2014 ), the Australia China Foundation ( 2014 ).

2009

He established one studio in Beijing  China.

He then lives and works in Beijing  China and Sydney Australia.

2012

He established one studio in Las Vegas.

He then lives and works in à Las Vegas  United States.
