Fang Zhaolin 方召麐 ( 1914-2006 ) was born on January 17th in Wuxi, Jiangsu
|
|
Province, China.
|
|
|
|
She studied calligraphy and painting from his childhood. |
|
|
1930
|
She enrolled at the Wuxi Art College, and she learned to paint flowers and birds,
|
|
under the guidance of Qian Songyan.
|
|
|
1937
|
She entered the Manchester University in United Kingdom, to continue her studies. |
|
|
1938
|
She married Fang Shin-Hau 方心誥 ( 1913-1950 ) with whom she has had eight children.
|
|
|
|
During the Second World war, the family took refuge in Guilin, Tianjin and Shanghai. |
|
|
1949
|
They settled in Hong Kong. |
|
Soon after, she took over the business of her husband suddenly deceased.
|
|
|
|
She pursued her studies under the direction of Zhao Shao'ang (1905-1998 ),
|
|
and then Zhang Daqian ( 1899-1983 ).
|
|
|
1957 / 1958
|
She gave lectures in Germany, United Kingdom, and United States where she moved, |
|
|
|
She travelled with Zhang Daqian and met numerous artists.
|
|
|
1962
|
She studied Western painting and experimented with oil Painting. |
|
|
1972 / 1986
|
She travelled throughout China to gain inspiration.
|
|
|
1994
|
A large retrospective of his works was organized by the Hong Kong Museum of Art.
|
|
|
1998
|
She was awarded Honorary Doctorate by Soka University, Tokyo Japan .
|
|
|
2006
|
She died on February 20, at the age of 93.
|
