1958

Ye Yongqing 叶永青 was born in Kunming, Yunnan Province China.

1982

He graduated from the Chongqing Academy of Fine Arts. ( Oil Painting department )

and began teaching there.

1985

He was one of the founders with the artists : Hou Wenyi, Pan Dehai, Mao Xuhui Zhang Long ,

and Zhang Xiaogang, of the Art Group of Southwest China 西南群体.,

He organized the exhibitions New Figurative Image ( in Shanghai, Kunming and Chongqing )

which contributed significantly to the Chinese avant-garde art movment.

He created Big Posters ( 1991/1994 ) then a series of collages on canvas : photos, letters,

citations ( 1994/1999 ) and he dedicated to painting birds that made him famous.

2006

After living in Kunming, where he created LOFT, a contemporary art platform gathering

artists' studios and galleries, he moved to Beijing and then withdrew to Dali.

Numerous exhibitions in China, South Korea, United States, Europe.
