Jian Jun Xi 系建军 was born in Natong, Jiangsu Province, China.
|
|
|
|
He worked in different media: sculpture, painting, video, installation and performance.
|
|
|
1986
|
He graduated from the Central Academy of Art and Design..
|
|
|
|
He was the founder of Concept 21 ( 观念 21 ) for the development of Performance in China.
|
|
|
1987
|
He moved to the United Kingdom, to continue his studies.
|
|
|
1992
|
He was in residence in France, at the International City of Paris.
|
|
|
1995
|
He obtained a Master's degree in Art from Goldmith College, University of London.
|
|
|
|
He became famous with The Made For Real, group founded with the artist Cai Yuan 蔡元
|
|
to intervene in Art Institutions and public places :
|
1999
|
At the Tate Gallery for their first duo called Two Artists Jump on Tracey Emin’s Bed,
|
|
they thwarted security members and jumped into the bed of the Emin Tracey facility.
|
|
|
2000
|
At Tate Modern, for Two Artists Piss on Duchamp's Urinal, they tried to urinate
|
|
in a sculpture of R.Mutt.
|
|
At the Shanghai Biennial, they kidnapped the curator Hu Hanru.
|
|
|
2006
|
He received the Jackson Pollock Art Prize.
