1945

Chen Yanning  陈衍宁 was born in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, in south of China.

1965

He graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Guangzhou.

1970 / 1986

He was a professional painter at the Art Institute in Guangdong..

1981

First exhibition in Singapore.

1987

He went to the United States upon the invitation of gallery owner Robert Hefner

who exhibited his works for two consecutive years.

1988

Graduated from Oklahoma University, he taught at the Art department of the university.

1991

He became famous by winning the National Portrait Prize organized by the federation

of British artists..

He was in charge of making two portraits which were included in the magazine : Vogue

and exhibited in Mail Galleries, London.

1995

Publication of a book with 135 color plates of his works.

1998

He participated in the exhibition : China 5000 Yearsat the Guggenheim Museum, .

in New  York.

1999

He was in charge of painting the portraits of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

He became a U.S. citizen and he lives and works in New Jersey while frequently

visiting the United Kingdom.
