Teng-Hiok Chiu 周廷旭 ( 1903- 1972 ) was born in a family of tea merchants,
|
|
in Amoy, Fujian Province China.
|
|

|
He moved to the United States, and studied one semester at Harvard University, |
|
then joined the school of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
|
|
|
|
He went to study in Europe.
|
1923
|
After a brief time in France at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, he joined the London |
|
University.
|
1925 -1930
|
He studied Oil Painting under Sir George Clausen, Sir Walter Russel and Charles Sims.
|
|
In British Museum, he analysed Chinese callygraphy works and paintings with
|
|
the keeper of Oriental Prints and Drawings : : Laurence Binyon ( 1869- 1943 )
|

exhibited (six times) at the Annual Exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts.

- Bali - Java - Beijing - Shanghai - Indochina - Siam - Cambodge and Europe.

He moved to live in Morocco then in in New York United States. |

There , he befriended the artist Georgia O'Keeffe and maintained a correspondence

with her for ten years.

He visited her, twice, in Abiqiu New Mexico. |

He held an exhibition of his landscapes paintings in Santa Fe New Mexico.

He passed away in United States, at he age of 69. |
