Lai Shaoqi 赖少其 ( 1915-2000 ) was born in Puning, Guangdong Province China.

He began to study painting.

He graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.

He studied woodcutting and joined the Modern Woodcut Society.

He joined the New 4th Army in Anhui, then he was detained in a concentration

camp from which he escaped.

He became the head of the Literature and Art in the propaganda department.

He joined the University of East China and worked calligraphy and painting.

He was the founder of the New Huangshan School of painting.

He settled in Guangzhou.

He donated some of his works to the future Guangzhou Art Museum, under

construction. |

He was awarded the Lu Xun Engraving Prize;

Sick for several years, he died in December, at the age of 85, in Guangzhou.
