Zhu Qizhan 朱屺瞻 was born on May 27, in a family of
wealthy merchants,

in Taicang, Jiangsu Province, China.
|

|
|
|
Since his childhood, he
studied poetry, painting and calligraphy.
|
| |
|
|
1912
|
He entered the Shanghai Meizhuan to study Oil Painting.
|
|
|
|
|
|
He taught
at the Shanghai Meizhuan, then he left to study two years, in Japan,
|
| |
under the guidance of Lin Tonghua.
|
| |
|
|
1920/1930
|
He participated in
numerous exhibitions.
|
| |
|
|
1956
|
He joined the
Chinese Academy of Painting which has just opened.
|
| |
|
|
1982
|
He became professor
at the Chinese Academy of Painting in Shanghai.
|
| |
|
|
1995
|
A
museum dedicated to his work opened in Shanghai with his
collaboration.
|

|
|
1996
|
He
died at 105 years old.

2001

A
major retrospective was organized by The Shanghai Museum and The Zhu Qizhan

Museum, with the publication of a book : Treasured Collection of Zhu Qizhan's paintings.
