|
Yip Wing Sie 叶咏诗 was born on October 5, in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
|
|
in a family of musicians : Yip Wai-hong his father,and Choi Ching-yee, her mother, pianist.
|
|
|
|
Shortly afterwards, the family moved to Hong Kong.
|
|
|
|
From the age of four, she learned to play the piano with her mother, then, at ten, the violin.
|
|
She then began training as a conductor with her father, Dr. Yip Wai-hong, musician and
|
|
founder of YCC, the first children's choir in Hong Kong.
|
|
|
1978
|
Thanks to a scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, she went on to study in the
|
|
United Kingdom, at the Royal College in London.
|
1983
|
Graduated, she continued her studies, at Indiana University in Bloomington. United States
|
1985
|
She obtained a Master's degree in Violin Performance and Conducting.
|

She was resident conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

1986 -1992

She attended conducting courses at the Tanglewood Music Center in Massachusetts
|
1996
|
She was Principal Conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, then Music
|
|
Director.
|
2004 - 2020
|
She was Music Director of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.
|
|
Since then, as Music Director Emeritus, she devoted herself to the promotion of music.
