1967

Cheng Lin  程琳 was born in Luoyang, Henan Province  China.

   
 

Her father introduced her to music at a very young age by teaching her to play the erhu .

 

(  traditional violin with two strings )

   

1981

She started singing by creating Little Girl and then her first album of the same name.

 

The success was immediate.

 

In the wake of this, she released two other albums..  

   
 

Panda Mimi won the Best Song Award in China and she received the Outstanding Youth  

 

Award.

 

For the release of her fourth album, Songs of 1987, she innovated by introducing

 

video-clips that the National television broadcasted widely.

   

1989

She interrupted her musical career to study at the University of California.

   

1993

She began a series of tours throughout China and the United States.

   
 

Her collaboration with the composers James Wong and KC Porter reinforced

 

her success.

   
 

She performed with Jean Michel Jarre and toured with the group Ozomatlic l

 

accompagnée de l'erhu.
