1906

Pang Xunqin  庞薰琴 ( 1906-1985 ) was born in ChangshuxIan, Jiangsu Province.

 

He studied traditional painting from childhood.

   

1925

He went to France and entered the Julian Academy in Paris, to study oil painting.

 

 

1930

Back in Shanghai, he joined the Taimeng Painting Company.

   

1931

On September 23,  with Chen Chengbo, Zhou Duo, Zeng Zhiliang, Ni Yide, he founded

 

the Storm Art Society, or Jue Lan Club, dedicated to promoting a Parisian style Art.

 

Other members will be added including Lin Fengmian.

   

1932

He maried the artist Qiu Ti ( 1906-1958 )

   

1932 / 1935

09.10 16.10 First exhibition of the Jue Lan Club, in the French concession, Shanghai.

 

Four other exhibitions were presented but the arrival of the war caused the dislocation

 

of the Society.

   

1936

He left Shanghai to Beijing and taught in National Academy of Art.
   

1939

He worked for the Central Museum in Kunming , collecting works or Folk Art of minorities
   

1953

He founded the Central College of Arts and Crafts in Beijing.

   

1985

He died in Beijing, on March 18th, from a gastric cancer, at the age of 79 years.
   

1991

His hometown opened a museum to his memory, with more than five hundred paintings.
