Feng Gangbai  冯钢百 ( 1883-1984 ) was born in Xinhui, Guangdong Province  China.

 

 

1904

He went to work in Mexico.

 

 

1905

He entered the Mexico National Academy of Fine Arts to study oil painting.

   

1912

He went to San Francisco, studied at the Chicago Art Academy and joined

 

the Students Association of the New York Institute of Fine Arts.

   

1921

Back in China, he taught at the Fine Arts  School in Guangzhou.

   

 

With Hu Gentian, Chen Qiushan, Liang Luan and others students returned

 

from The United States or Japan, he created the Purple Society, to study

 

and introduce the Western painting.

   

1922

01.11 First exhibition of the Purple Society followed by a second exhibition

 

in December.

   

1945

He went to Hong Kong.

 

 

1948

He settled in China, in Guangzhou.

   

1984

He died at the age of 101.
