1955

Zhang Shengquan  张盛泉  was born in Datong, Shanxi Province, Northern China.

As most people named him Dazhang, ( Big Zhang ) because of his large size, (1,90 m ),

he took the name of Datong Dazhang  大同大张.

1980

As a self-taught artist, he started painting abstract art with different kind of materials.

1987

With Ren Xiaoying 任小颖  and three other artists he formed the WR group, le groupe WR,

for an Avant-garde Art.

Their first performance Mourning was held at China Avant-Garde exhibition, in National

Art Museum of China  Beijing.

1994

He created the post art The Right Guard, by sending to about fifty artists acrossChina,

installation ideas and also performance to achieve them.

2000

In the name of Art, he hung himself in his apartment..

2015

A major retrospective of his work was held at the Power Station of Art and the Shanghai

Museum of Contemporary Art.
