Chan Ky-Yut 陈介一 was born in
Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, South China.
|
|
|
In his childhood, he learned calligraphy with his grandfather who was a doctor.
|
| |
|
|
|
As a teenager, he was interested by Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism..
|
| |
He also practiced the arts of the body in movement.
|
| |
After his studies in etymology and Chinese literature in Hong Kong, he founded
|
|
|
a “new” school that he managed during few years.
|
| |
|
|
1971
|
He created two painting workshops.
|
| |
The artist was constantly questioning and transforming his art.
|
|
|
He abandoned figuration for a new language of form and space.
|
| |
|
|
1977
|
His trips to Asia, Europe and America allowed him to have a deeper vision of Art.
|
| |
|
|
1978
|
He moved to Ottawa Canada.
|
| |
The expression of emptiness took a great importance in his painting.
|
| |
|
|
1988
|
His prolific work ( painting, sculpture, stained glass, book-object ) travelled
|
| |
through the USA, Europe, and Asia for numerous exhibitions.
|
| |
|
|
|
