Zhang Zhenshi  张振仕 ( 1914-1992 ) was born in Liaoyang, Liaoning Province, China.

   
 

He studied at the Jinghua Art Academy.

1936

He graduated ( Oil Painting department )

   
 

  -  Educator, he taught at the National Beiping Art Training School, the Liaoning Provincial

 

 Art Training School , the National Changbai Normal College, and finally at the Central

 

Academy of Industrial Art.

   
 

   -  Editor-in-chief of Art and Life magazine - Deputy editor-in-chief of Chahar illustrated

   

1950

   -  Painter known for his portraits, he was commissioned to create a new painting for

 

for the pediment of the Celestial Peace Gate of the Forbidden City in Beijing : the giant

 

portrait of Mao Zedong ( 8M X 4M ), painted in collaboration, in one month, in one of

 

the rooms of the Forbidden City.

   
1951/1967

Each year, he made a new copy with slight modifications, to replace the previous one.

   

1977

He painted the portrait of Zhou Enlai, which can be seen at the Museum of the Chinese

 

Revolution.
