Xu Jin 徐进 was born in Huangyan, Zhejiang Province, China.

He was admitted to the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts.

( the current Chinese Academy of Art ), and studied oil painting.
|
|
|

1982
|
He graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, Hangzhou.

|
Very active in Hangzhou, he formed the group 85 New Space with other artists including :

|
Geng Jianyi, Zhang Peili, Song Ling, Wang Qiang, Bao Jianfei ( future core of the movement

of Avant-garde 85 New Wave ).
|
| |
The group held in Hangzhou, in the gallery of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts,
|
| |
an exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Art entitled : 1985 New Space.
|
| |
Xu Jin exhibited there three works that made him famous : Introspection - The Conversation -
|
|
|
Midnight.
|
| |
|
|
1989
|
He moved to the United States.
|
|
|
|
|
2012
|
He was appointed professor at the College of Art and Design, Nachang University.
|
| |
|
| |
He lives and works in New York United States and in Hangzhou China, cities in which
|
| |
he opened a studio.
