1926

Zhang Shijian  张世简 ( 1926-2009 ) was born in January, in Lizhang, Zhejiang province, China.

 

As a child, he was involved in the artistic world with his uncle Zhang Zenduo ( 1908-1989 ),  

 

a famous Chinese ink painter, and his cousin  Zhang Shuqi ( 1900-1957 ),  a painter of flowers

 

and birds.

   

1979

He taught at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

 

( now Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts )

   
 

He was invited to Singapore, South Korea and Japan for solo exhibitions.

 

He participated twice in Chinese Art delegations to organize art exchanges

 

across Japan.

   

1994

He was appointed Librarian of the Central Research Institute of Literature and History.

   

2009

On December 4,  he passed away, in Beijing, at the age of 83.
