Lui Shou-kwan 呂壽琨 pinyin Lü Shoukun
|
|
Lui Shou-kwan 吕寿琨 ( 1919-1975 ) was born in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province
|
|
China. His father taught him painting from an early age.
|
|
|
1946
|
Graduate in economics from the University of Guangzhou, he began to work
|
|
as an inspector at the Yaumatei Ferry Company of Hong Kong, while making Chinese
|
|
ink paintings close to abstraction, and writing articles on Art for newspapers.
|
|
|
1956
|
He founded the China Fine Arts Society with Li Yanshan ( 1898-1961 ) and Zhao
|
|
Shao'ang (1905-1998 ). |
|
As a member of the Hong Kong Artists Society, he took part to the two collective
|
|
exhibitions in Hong Kong ( 1957 ) ( 1960 ).
|
|
|
1966
|
He resigned from his job, gave continuing education courses in ink painting
|
|
at the Chinese University and became a lecturer at the University of Hong Kong.
|
|

1971
|
The British government awarded him the title of Member of the Order of the British
|
|
Empire, for his contribution to the Arts.
|
|
|
1975
|
He passed away on September 26, in Hong Kong, at the age of 56.
|
|
