My work utilizes formal Chinese brushmarks but concentrates on their abstract rather than narrative function.
|
|
I appropriate classical Chinese iconography but exaggerate their aestheir
aesthetic character.
|
|
The marks are those that taught from master to student for generations, always
used in the same manner
|
|
and whilst I learnt the skill in the traditional way I manipulate them within the context of western art concerns.
